“The lotus represents spiritual enlightenment. Regardless of its dirty environment and the muddy water it’s rooted in, the lotus rises above it all to bloom in beauty, facing the sun.” Read more here.

Hey there, nice to meet you and welcome to my blog. My name is Simoné. Mom of two, content writer, passionate about all things art and artsy, neurodivergent and most likely suffering from undiagnosed ADHD, tattoo enthusiast, coffee addict and a hopeless romantic at heart.

Here we will chat about anything and everything, except politics. Maybe a little religion. Little to nothing is taboo. Because that’s what I am all about, honesty and openness. I’ve realized as I’ve gotten to know myself better, one of my core values is brutal honestly. Undenying, unapologetic honesty. It isn’t always easy. Not everyone accepts a forceful honest approach. People want a little sugar coating, and that’s ok. Life’s tough and harsh and whenever there is an opportunity to soften the blow, we take it. I understand that and I can even accept it. I aim always to relay any message in the kindest way possible without compromising on the honesty part.

Thanks Google! I mean, when you look at the definition of the word, “unbecoming”, the name I chose for my blog seems questionable, right? Well… here’s why I chose it anyway:
About two years ago I started a healing journey. Having suffered all kinds of trauma, including mainly religious trauma, I reached a point where I started to question everything, but most importantly, myself. I started to question my actions, my thoughts, the way I spoke, what I believed and why I believed it. This led me to a journey of unbecoming everything I had become and becoming who I am truly meant to be. This, The Unbecoming. So, I kind of made up my own translation of the word. However, the journey led me down a path that many either misunderstood or just didn’t want to accept. So, in the eyes of others, my journey might have been seen and is still seen as unbecoming aka not fitting, aka unflattering, aka not appropriate. Man, I love this word! I couldn’t have hoped for a better, more relevant and fitting word to describe all of it.
So, welcome. I hope my unbecoming journey will inspire you to start your own journey. If you’re not there yet, then I hope my entries will give you something to relate with and remind you that you’re not alone. You’ve got this, I’ve got this, we’ve got this!
